I took up the practice of walking meditation to help me connect with my world, move my body, and get out of my studio during the work day.

On my walks I would stop and sink into my surroundings. This is when I begin to notice that there is wonder everywhere. The details that I walk past while busy in my mind are now sources of joy and possibility. I collect forgotten overgrown weeds, garbage, and occasionally a flower. Back in my studio I arrange the materials onto my surfaces and become present again. Every part of my creative process slows me down and transports me from the past or the future into the present.
